Week 3: Living from Identity, Not Performance

Week 3: Embracing Divine Identity

Theme: You Thrive by Flowing from Who God Says You Are

Key Scripture: Ephesians 2:10

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Lesson Overview

Thriving in the Divine Flow requires living from identity, not for identity. We must believe what God says about us, allowing our sense of purpose and direction to come from His design, not external validation or comparison.

Lesson Objectives

  • Discover how divine identity shapes your capacity to flow.

  • Identify and renounce false identities.

  • Embrace your unique calling and design.

The Trap of Performance-Based Worth

Teaching Content

  1. God’s Workmanship

    • You were formed with intention and beauty (Psalm 139:14).

    • The “works” you’re called to flow in are pre-prepared by God.

  2. Overcoming Identity Blockers

    • Fear, shame, and comparison distort your identity.

    • Jesus overcame every temptation to perform for identity (Matthew 4:1–11).

  3. Restoring the Voice of the Father

    • God declared Jesus' identity before His ministry began (Matthew 3:17).

    • We, too, must receive identity as sons and daughters before we do the work.

Living from Identity in Christ

  2. What false identities have shaped your life or decisions?

  3. How does comparison block divine flow?

  4. In what ways do you experience confidence in who God made you to be?

Reflection on Galatians 4:6–7

Reflection Questions

  • What have you believed about yourself that God has not said?

  • How has fear shaped your actions more than identity?

  • Write a letter from God to yourself affirming your identity.

Growth Activities

  • Daily Identity Declaration: Write and speak truths about who you are in Christ.

  • Scripture Focus: Galatians 2:20, Psalm 139:14, 1 Peter 2:9.

  • Creative Flow: Draw, write, or journal a vision of yourself walking fully in your God-given identity.
